Available 1/17/25: A timeless collection of heartfelt and abstract pop, as obscured through the lenses of Robert Wyatt, Legendary Pink Dots and an amalgamation of aspects from the Flying Nun catalog. As summarized from the label, previously: “Although he has lived in Berlin for most of the past decade, Paul Arambula has always been close-by on the localized level of Gilgongo Records. Living in Arizona, it would have been impossible to not find Paul: From his “legendary if you caught them as the opener for your band’s Phoenix tour date” group The Chandails (who had a raw pop sound that could draw comparisons to both The Clean and Velvet Underground, to eclectic post-punk trios Vegetable (who had a 7” on the label clear back in 2010) and Mall, as permanent satellite member of the band Soft Shoulder". Paul’s solo output has ranged from primitive guitar (think no-wave blues) to large ensemble noise-assault poetry, with his current approach to orchestrated and dynamic songwriting yielding material that feels both raw and highly intricate / orchestrated.
Still’s Keep follows 2021’s ‘Towantowanto’ (on Germany’s Musikii), 2020’s ‘Submarine & Walk Thru This World With Me’, a 7” & CD set, also on Gilgongo) and appearances on 3 incredible compilations on Kashual Plastik and in that time has performed throughout Europe, 2022’s KRAAK Fest and held the album release for Still’s Keep in December 2024 at Blank Forms in NYC. Recorded between 2016 – 2023 in Berlin, Phoenix and New York. Mixing and mastering by John Dieterich (Deerhoof).
